RHS Garden Hyde Hall
RHS Garden Hyde Hall is situated in Rettendon near Chelmsford, Essex. The gardens were originally created by Dick and Helen Robinson in the 1950s as part of a farm estate. They were gifted to the RHS for preservation in 1993.
The site has been ambitiously developed and added to over the years and continues to evolve into what is now an incredibly diverse landscape with many different gardens. Notable areas include the breathtaking Dry Garden, The Robinson Garden, perennial planting on Clover Hill, an Antipodean area, a woodland leading to the Big Sky Meadow, an English Rose Garden and an incredible 'Global Growth Vegetable Garden' which aims to grow fruit and veg from every corner of globe.

I visited Hyde Hall for the first time in the summer of 2024. Photographing The Dry Garden I was struck by the variety of shape and form; clumps of euphorbia, Salvia nemorosa ‘Caradonna’ and towering Verbena bonariensis. All thriving in this arid desert landscape.
